Has anyone looked into putting AC in a bus powered by a 1600?

In working in the classic car valet circuit, one of the other drivers showed me where he installed an AC from https://www.vintageair.com/

He said he powers it off a second battery charged by the engine.

Would it work with a 1600?  I have an alternator

Snoopy, the links you posted go to home page for Vintage Air. It sounds like you are asking about an electrically driven AC compressor vs the conventional belt driven compressor off of the engine. I'd like to see a more specific link.

Anyhow, you could install an aftermarket AC system in a 1600 bus. The compressor would rob some power, but it would work. This company, no affiliation makes kits for the VW Bug. Aftermarket AC

Some modern cars do have electrical driven compressors, but probably not cost effective. I have a Vintage Air unit in our Vanagon. Very happy with the result. Mark

Thanks, I don't have an exact link as I'm unsure what would work.

And I was thinking electrical, I'm not so worried about power or really full on AC.  I do a valet service with my split and can get more gigs if the AC at least blew on the people in the back, LOL

I'll look at the other one

A conventional AC system would probably be the most reasonable solution. Look at adapting a beetle underdash unit. Probably more companies making kits. A kit with a rotary compressor would be smoother than the original York piston compressors that were dealer installed.
