I have 2 "Westys", same year, same color scheme, 1 full camper and a weekender.
I am selling the weekender for $6000

or use as downpayment on a VWsynchro-camper (4x4).

I originally bought the weekender for parts for my camper, but then it kept running so well after i gave it new cylinder heads, new steering fluid pump, shocks.....

The engine was a turnkey, lots of fun taking everything off the engine. Here is what it looks like, I just got back from the machine shop, dropped it off so it could get in line, if we are lucky it will be out by next Thursday. I could see nothing wrong with the basic engine, except the pinch bolt was missing, and the big long one in front by the oil breather was missing too. When I fot the case apart, the case pins were hand made out of a nail, P/L's were good, just a miss matched set, when I get them clean, I'll match them up weight wise.

While waiting on the machine shop, I guess I could clean up all the F.I. parts, and the alternator. All finished, parts cleaned, injector hoses replaced, injectors & holders painted, harness cleaned (replaced three connectors), alternator cleaned and painted.

I don't have room for it right now, got two watercooled I'm playing with, one at the machine shop and the other due in thursday, and the aircooled that I am in the middle of(waiting on it to come back from the machine shop too). I would like to keep my scooter in the garage, I don't want it stolen again, if I get too many engines I will have to park him outside.

I completely understand...a scooter with a tank of gas in it is highly valuable these days! Let me know when you are freed up...this motor is probably going to need your undivided attention.

Daylight, I can see daylight, the Machinest has started on your engine parts. So I should start seeing some of the parts to put together. I just hope that a race engine don't get in the way.

Pictures of some clean painted parts, I also built up the P/L's. The heads were to bad to re-build, three of the seats are bad.

Did some more, I've done about all I can till the heads get here next week. Clyde is feeling crowded in the garage, too many engines trying to take over his parking spot. I installed the flywheel and set the end play, front & rear oil seals are installed, oil filter stand and the oil cooler.

Heads are going to take at least two weeks if not a little longer, so I guess I go into the holding pattern. Her heads were too messed up to re-build.

Going with the re-built ones from Bus Depot, I have used them before with nothing but good luck with them, they seem to do a good job with them.

Got the heads in today, and put them on..It wont take long now, everything is cleaned up and ready to go, so here we go..

Will be installing the air deflectors under the cylinders next, then the pushrod tubes and pushrods, rocker arms and adjust the valves.

I know why the alternator don't fit right, it's the wrong one, will never work right, so I'm not putting it back on, there is going to be a need for a alternator for a 79 bus. I have been busey putting tin and F.I. on the engine, the manifold boots split on me putting them back on, had to put new ones on it. None of the tin wanted to go back right, had to force a lot of it.

I performed a major make over on the alternator attachment points, now the alternator fits and should work, but it is not the right alternator, I had to make modifications to get it to fit.

Yes on the spedo, there is someone in the club that re-builds spedos, ask Shawn, he just had one re-done and set back to "0". The engine should be done as soon as I get the exhast gaskets in, I thought I had a stack of them, but when I cleaned up the shop, they got misplaced, and I can't find them. Your alternator fits now but it is not the right one, I did cutting and trimming to get it to work, it's amasing what you can do when you have extra time. Your alternator was only in place by the top tension bolt, the bottom bolt was not there, I can see why it didn't charge like it should, or the belt stay on.

$100 in spare parts in a box is cheaper than any tow (belts, fuses, plugs, points, tape, nuts, bolts, fuel line, clamps, etc)
